The last time I went snorkeling at Duka Bay, I didn’t have a chance to pose with Nemo and friends. I am happy that Powershot D10 is out in the Philippine market. This new Canon Powershot D10 will surely bring great underwater photos. I am waiting to get my hands on this. And the next time I snorkel, scuba or even river trekking, you guys will be the first one to see the photos taken by this new Powershot D10.

Taken from [DCResource]

And now for something completely different. The PowerShot D10 is Canon’s first everything-proof camera — water, shock, and freeze proof, to be exact. It seems like everyone is introducing one of these in 2009! In my humble opinion, the D30 is the most, umm, homely looking camera in this category. Here are its specs:

PowerShot D10 [specs]

F2.8-4.9, 3X optical zoom lens, 35 – 105 mm

2.5″ LCD display with 230,000 pixels

DIGIC 4 processor

Same Smart Auto and face/blink detection features as above

Records movies at 640 x 480 (30 fps) using H.264 codec; max recording time approx. 46 mins

SD/SDHC/MMC/MMCplus/HC MMCplus slot (no card included)

The Panasonic Lumix GH1 Micro Four Thirds camera, introduced at the start of March, has finally received a tentative US price through electronics retailer J&R’s website. The new model is set at $1,500 for its standard kit version, which carries Vario HD 14-140mm, f/4.0-5.8 lens, which features four aspherical pieces of glass, optical image stabilization and is meant to capture both the close-up and telephoto shots likely in the camera’s signature 1080p video mode.

The 12.1-megapixel GH1 saves the HD video in an AVCHD format in an SDHC memory card slot. Users can record at 60fps, though at a reduced 720p resolution. A 3-inch LCD and a traditional viewfinder are found on the backside of the GH1, which is the second G-series digital camera from the company. The Micro Four Thirds system differs from traditional SLR camera designs as it lacks the latter’s mirror box.

A nearly identical GH1 bundle launched in Japan on April 24th for the equivalent price of $1,535 after tax. Buyers get a choice of gold, black and red. Despite the J&R page, a release date for the GH1 is still unknown, though it’s still expected soon.

Last weekend I got the chance to visit Duka Bay Resort in Medina, Misamis Oriental. We rode a jeepney from Cagayan de Oro City to Medina, Misamis Oriental for at least 2 hour trip.

You can have two options in getting there. You can take a 2 hour bus ride from Agora Terminal or by renting a van or taxi. In our case, we rented a passenger jeepney for only Php2,000 roughly ($45 USD).

Duka Bay Entrance and Reception area

In Duka Bay, you can have a lot of things to enjoy. Kayaking, aquabike and banca paddling will surely sweat you out. Marine life is very well preserve in the area. It is a sanctuary of Dory, Nemo and the rest of the gang of the movie ‘Finding Nemo’ except the shark of course! You can take a closer look with them with Duka Bay’s glass bottom boats which only cost Php400.00 per trip. You can also swim with them by renting snorkel gears at the Duka Bay Dive shop or touch them by diving underwater and meet Nemo and friends face to face.

snorkeling in Duka Bay

I would recommend that you plunge into the water in the early morning and scuba dive and snorkel at around 10am so you could see the underwater clearly. I haven’t tried scuba diving when I was there. But I’ve seen the Duka bay Marine life with the glass bottom boat and snorkeling for almost 2 hours. I didn’t take any underwater photos because I didn’t have any water resistant gears but I will surely get one. And when I do have, I will be back snorkeling and probably try scuba diving in Duka Bay for sure.

Yes! I’m back to where I also should be doing, blogging. =) I have been out and about in Northern Luzon, particularly in Subic, Olongapo, Bataan and Zambales.

Places that I never dreamt of going to and situations where I’ve never thought I would be into while I was in these places. Though overall, I did have fun, lots of fun!

Subic is “Americanized” its like being in another country where establishments, streets, hotels and environment and even traffic rules are not like the usual “Filipino”. It’s beaches are also nice. It is one of the places that I would want to spend my vacation.

Olongapo is somehow like a place in my hometown yet its nightlife is as great as Subic. We’ve been to their comedy bars and we had a blast! It was very funny!

Bataan is historical, this is where the so called “Death March” end in World War II. You can see the monuments of the people who fought for our country. I salute this place and its people. They have been hospitable to me and this is only the place where I have eaten the best sweet and sour fish, filipino style. haha

Zambales is the place to go to the beaches. It’s a quiet town. You won’t see any buildings along the highway, you will see rice fields and cows and etc. Yet they have the best beaches for surfing! They also have tons of activities, kayaking, boating and etc. If you want to get away from city life, this is it, this is the place. Perfect.

Frankly, we’re beginning to wonder just how many iterations of the Wind U100 MSI can dish out before it’s forced by riots and a bombardment of Molotov cocktails to come forward with a completely revamped Wind netbook. At any rate, today the company has just unveiled its U100 PLUS, a familiar looking fellow with a 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor, a hamstrung 945GMS chipset, Intel’s GMA950 integrated graphics, up to 2GB of DDR2-533 RAM, a 10-inch LCD (1,024 x 600), 160GB hard drive, 4-in-1 multicard reader, VGA output, three USB 2.0 sockets, an optional 6-cell battery (3-cell is standard), WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. Crazily enough, MSI asserts that users can see upwards of 7 hours of use with the standard battery, which is easily one of the most unbelievable statements we’ve heard in the past 4.32 hours. Per usual, pricing and availability will come in due time.

Apparently some shady hackers and cyber-criminals have recently started offering upwards of $30,000 for the Nokia 1100 which were manufactured at a specific plant in Bochum, Germany. You may ask yourself, “why?” Well, beyond the obvious answer (style), certain makes of the super-popular handset can apparently be reprogrammed to use someone else’s phone number, allowing them to receive text messaged bank passwords (common in parts of Europe), thus making it much, much easier to steal people’s money. The software flaw has been pointed out by Ultrascan Advance Global Investigations, who were contacted by police who had noted the curiously high offering prices on the old-timey candybar. Nokia has contended that it has not identified any software problems which would allow such use, so it’s hard to say what exactly is going on at this point, but we’ll let you know if we hear anything concrete.

All models feature an Intel GMA 4500MHD, DVD writer, Windows Vista Home Premium, and a 6-cell battery. If the 16-inch Y650 was just a little too pricey or bulky for your tastes, this should do the trick — at least until the 15.6-inch Y550 pops in to fill that void in between.

I went off to Camiguin Island last weekend and oh boy, everything went by like a swift breeze! Camiguin is such a beautiful island yet I spent less than 48 hours on it! I went there the old fashioned way by bus from Cagayan de Oro to Balingoan then rode a ferry to the island unlike Mika Ella’s direct ferry ride from CDO to Camiguin. I went hopping from one tourist spot to another and I guess I’ve seen the major spots save for Katibawasan Falls and Mantigue Island (I didn’t have enough time and energy to linger on).

I am definitely going back to Camiguin sometime this summer ( I hope!) with more time and with a different group of people and have more fun than I did last weekend. Overall, it was a great experience! Better check out Camiguin y’all!
